Mini Bittner
Taggarts is a Stark County Ohio landmark. It is a favorite eating destination and holds many memories of first dates, rendezvous and ice cream, especially the Bittner, Taggart’s specialty. The painting, Mini Bittner, depicts a family making their way to Taggarts to make some of their own memories. The painting is included in Stark ARThology and is the cover art for that publication.
While this painting found its inspiration in the icecream specialties, I was drawn to the night scene where the reference file originated. I used a DSLR with a long lens while standing in the road. Fortunately, the road is not heavily traveled. I took many long exposure shots from that standpoint. The resulting image was as expected, a wide angle shot of the front of the restaurant with too many details to make a good composition. But, with some patience, I found the composition that proved to be pleasing to me.
The author of Stark ARThology purchased the painting for their private collection. This painting has been turned into a limited edition and it has been enlarged to wallpaper and used to decorate the interior of another local restaurant by a Rhode Island firm.
