The Other Way

I am and have always been fascinated by people places and things especially, landmark locations. The painting depicted here is a midtown location in the heart of New York City. I’m fascinated by crowds and excited by people doing the most ordinary things.  This painting is likely a morning coffee run by locals and tourists.  The day is sunny and bright.

The crowd is moving here and there and everywhere.  The movement of the crowd reminded me of the people movers at the airport, transporting passengers to the next stop.

The umbrellas of the street cart was especially eye-catching and is set off against the buildings in the background.  This street corner is unique in its moment in time but it is duplicated all over the city in one form or another.
I am quit happy with the result and I’m anxious about returning to the city as soon as possible.

This painting takes advantage of the location along with the people walking and the things that encircle it.  All in all, I accomplished the narrative theme, People Places and Things.

I like the result and I hope others do as well.

This painting is entitled The Other Way.  Its companion painting is The Only Way.  The two paintings are from scenes taken the same day, same time of day, the same street, only two different street corners.  Kind of the yin and yang of the City.
