Passing Lane

I am and have always been fascinated by people places and things especially, landmark locations.  The painting depicted here is in the Greenwich Village of the borough of Manhattan in New York City near the campus of New York University.  Fifth Avenue seen here terminates at the Washington Monument at the entrance of Washington Square Park.  Fifth Avenue is peaceful in this location.

This scene is early spring and the flowering trees are in full bloom.  The sun is quite intense which creates interesting shadow patterns.  The walkers appear to be young men walking toward NYU for early morning class.  It is not clear that the cars parked here are theirs or not.  Likely not.  Certainly though, the walkers did not ride bicycles to this point, but many cyclists take advantage of the generous bike lanes throughout NYC as here.

This painting takes advantage of the location along with the people walking and the things that encircle it.  All in all, I accomplished the narrative theme, People Places and Things.

I like the result and I hope others do as well.
