Evening Light ND

This painting depicts Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on the banks of the Seine.  There are many views of the cathedral, many of them from the front.  The architecture is undeniably gothic in origin and a Paris landmark.  My early reflections on this magnificent piece of living history came during world history class at my high school in Phoenix Arizona.  The photographs were intriguing but I was especially fascinated by the flying buttresses as seen from the rear view.  The beauty and elegance of the buttresses provided such interest to me then.  So, when I visited Paris, I had to see the rear view of Notre Dame.  I saw it then just I saw it in world history class long ago.  This is a studio painting of my favorite view of ND from my viewpoint along the Seine.
